Administering a client

The order a client is usually set up in. Each step is configuration that later steps depend on, so it is worth following the sequence the first time through.

Understand the model first

  1. Glossary — the terms the configuration screens use.
  2. Roles and profiles — how access is granted, and the vocabulary the rest of this route assumes.

People

  1. Create a user
  2. Edit a profile — what a profile controls.
  3. Password policy
  4. Teams and groups — how work is distributed once the users exist.

Calendars

  1. Holidays — these affect scheduling, so set them before anyone plans against a calendar.
  2. Leave types
  3. Absence types

Workflows

  1. Workflows — how documents move through their lifecycle.
  2. Stages and stage types
  3. Transitions — the rules, roles and actions that run when a document moves.
  4. Stage mappings

Data

  1. Typologies — the classification the rest of the data hangs from.
  2. Custom tables — extending the data model.
  3. Importing data — bringing users, departments, employees and projects in.

System

  1. Menu — what each profile sees.
  2. Custom style — branding.
  3. Query mentions
